Okay.

It is time that I come out of the closet...

And, no I am not a lesbian.

But before I disclose the "what" I need to say a few words.

I have always been the person who thinks it is crazy how others disclose such personal information about themselves on social media and that I would never be that person.

But, today I am.

And although "my coming out" is...

Uncomfortable.

Embarrassing.

Revealing.

I know that I need to do this solely for myself, for my own purpose of healing and moving past this insecurity. And in no way is this to get attention, or any other motive other than to face my fear by expressing it publicly and moving on.

So, 3 years ago I was diagnosed with TYPE 1 DIABETES.

No, not type 2. Type 1. (Yes, there is a major difference).

My poor pancreas no longer makes insulin apparently due to an autoimmune disorder, which killed off my insulin producing cells.

(I have my own theories as to why this might have happened to me- from the really painful experiences that I suffered through as a child, which led to the ways I coped with it as I transitioned into adulthood; drowning myself in alcohol for many years until my body could no longer handle it). And due to my sudden health crisis, these pastyears have been the most profound and meaningful because without this happening I probably would have been dead from all the crazy shit I use to do.

However, I took this "health challenge" as a blessing, which I apparently and desperately needed, and it has led me to so many magical experiences and realizations.

Although I am not perfect, and I have not put to rest all of my old habits and behaviors (I am a work in progress) I have made the decision to not use the "poor me" card.

I have invested countless time and energy into a "holistic-as-possible approach" to healing and have discovered an alkaline lifestyle, (the belief that certain foods can affect the acidity and pH of bodily fluids and can therefore be used to treat or prevent disease) which allows the body to partially repair with foods and supplements.

Now a days, I have become a kundalini yoga instructor and holistic health counselor. Through my own healing journey I have geared my education towards alternative therapies and it is my privilege and passion to help others with similar struggles.

Hopefully, this message will be helpful to anyone else who is struggling with an insecurity..

And if so, I encourage you to share whatever that insecurity might be...

And maybe not on facebook, but at least with someone who you trust.

And with that said...

I love you.

I respect you.

I understand you.

And I want to help you grow.
